This workshop will have an in depth look into high resolution panoramic motion image acquisition and post processing.


Based on the iCinema Centre Spherecam system, a camera system designed by the presenter, it will explain special consideration of recording 360º scenes, calibration of intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of a multi-head camera, photometric and geometric correction and panoramic or spherical movie creation.

This workshop will cover a wide range of topics related to stereoscopy from both a theoretical and practical point of view. It will include a comparative discussion of the technology both now and in the future as well as cover how one creates effective stereoscopic content.

Specific topics that will be covered are: the creation of synthetic stereoscopic pairs, still photography and video capture, viewing/projection options and their relative merits, the limitations inherent in the current technology, some of the new and future possibilities for stereoscopic viewing/projection, and how to create content exhibiting minimal eye strain. A stereoscopic viewing system will be available to illustrate the various principles and to show examples of work from practitioners in the field.

Peripato Telematikos

One of the main objectives is to allow the public, be they focus groups or otherwise, to create representations of public spaces. These ‘representations’ can be thought of as ‘maps’ that articulate a perspective from the ground up, from the perspective of the people that use these spaces, and not from the planners and authorities that impose a supposed objective representation of place. This approach is informed by a discipline known as ‘social cartography’.

The mechanisms by which this will take place will draw on creative practises; more specifically live art (performance art) and media art
